Yet Another *Book Lawsuit: Lamebook v. Facebook

Another day, another website who wants to use [genericword]+book.com as their domain name. Hailing from the Western District of Texas, Lamebook.com recently filed a declaratory judgement action against Facebook.com, claiming that their use is an acceptable parody use under the Lanham Act.

Something tells me that Facebook’s lawyer will be much heavier financed than the plaintiff, but I have to give Lamebook “A for effort”. That being said, trademark owners need to recognize that there is such a thing as a fair use even if their marks are famous.

Personally, I hope the court grants the DJ. I’ve included the complaint below.
