Samsung to AU & BenQ: You Shall Not Pass (Because of Patent Infringment)

The LCD of Suit

Interesting case from the Northern District of California regarding Samsung’s patent on LCD’s having multi-domains. According to the complaint, Samsung was negotiation with AU Electronics and BenQ for the licensing of patents relating to these LCD’s. During the negotiations, both parties claimed they owned the patent and thus, the other party had to license it from the other.

Lovely way to negotiate really. Well, Samsung didn’t stay quiet for long and filed this patent infringement suit.

The case is: Samsung Electronics v. AU Optronics Corp, et al
Civ Num: 11-cv-2620
