Copyright Infringement Filing, P.R.D.: Código Publishing v. Felton

New case filed at the U.S. District Court of Puerto Rico last week, alleging copyright infringement. The case is Código Publishing v. Anthony Felton, et ai, Civ. No.: 3:11-cv-01819.

According to the complaint (and numerous exhibits), Código Publishing is the owner of several songs performed by the late Hector Lavoe. Many of those songs were licensed to Mr. Felton for the production of the movie “Lavoe:  The Untold Story”. Parties had agreed to certain licensing terms and payment scheduled, which according to the complaint, Mr. Felton did not meet.

What happens when you don’t pay your part of a copyright license? You get sued for copyright infringement.
