In June, we wrote about a patent infringement case filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico. Given that patent infringement cases are a tiny amount of the two dozen IP cases filed in the P.R.D., its news is always a cause for (nerdy) celebration. Well, the day before my 30th birthday, there was another patent infringement case filed in the P.R.D.
The case is Ingeniador, LLC v. Interwoven, Blackboard, Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, et al, Civil Action No. 3:11-cv-01840. The complaint alleges patent infringement of a method and system for publishing information on a network-based computer system using a network of client computers, network file server and LDAP directory servers. The patent was issued by the USPTO on January 24th, 2006, and has Patent No. 6,990,629.
Ingeniador, from the documents filed with the complaint, seems to be a corporation with residence in Puerto Rico. Among its named defendants are tech heavyweights Oracle, Microsoft, HP, Lexmark and SAP. With Bilski’s support for software patents, this case is ripe for a good battle.
Below is the complaint. Chime in!
